Writing Mentoring, often called “private writing coaching,” offers a combination of editing, developmental guidance and project management over the course of a book or anthology project. It is your personal one-on-one writing class tailored to your needs and goals. Writing coaching spans a longer period of time compared to an editing service. We meet at least once a month starting with our first “brainstorming meeting.” At this initial meeting, the project’s goals are outlined between the author and the mentor. The author submits their work in monthly segments of anywhere from 25-50 pages.
Writing coaching works best for projects that are new, or one that the author is looking to overhaul in stages to help solidify the vision of the work. Many authors working on a brand-new project often find mentoring helps them to finish their book a lot faster than if they had tried to work on it alone without any guidance.
I offer writing coaching through The Writing Consultancy and Yellow Bird Editors.
