How will a class or workshop benefit you?

To continue to refill your artistic well, just like a dancer, singer, or actor who take weekly classes to keep their skills sharp, authors must practice their art regularly. It’s important to access your right brain and allow yourself to play with your art in ways that are low-risk and low stakes. Britta has designed her workshops and classes with busy writers in mind. If you’re looking for more of a writing as process and clearing the mental cobwebs, her open-level Emotional Release Class will be perfect for you. It’s an open-level class for all writers and artists and is one of Britta’s most popular offerings, next to her Deep Characterization Workshop.

Britta’s twenty-three years of experience teaching creative writing, being a working author herself, and full-time editor means that she brings a lot of lively discussion, practical examples and heart to her classes. Coax your characters out of the shadows with one of her hands on workshops!

The Mincer Character Immersion

“The Mincer” is an immersive interior/exterior character discovery experience that will get you deep inside your character’s head and emotional reality, while staying rooted in their setting. This multi-layered exercise has been developed over the past twenty years of Britta’s experience working on character development in both Off-Broadway theatre and the publishing world in the UK and US. During the workshop we’ll focus on going deep and immersing yourself in your character’s inner and outer life, as well as unveiling exciting esoteric layers in between. Explore character development from a more subconscious level in this workshop and connect with your character’s deeper history, emotional reality and voice.

POV Workshop

Strengthen your understanding of how to use POV to your advantage and tighten your story’s narrative. Learn from established writers as well as award-winning author, Britta Jensen. This class is a self-guided course you can complete online at your own pace. You’ll have access to the class for an entire year after registration. “I am inspired and supported by Britta’s kindness and enthusiasm.”-A.D. Perry, author

“Britta was awesome and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for an editor. She did a great job on not just the edit itself, but book-ending the work with extra effort. Before I hired her, she was already putting in extra steps to understand what I needed and where my manuscript was at. After the edit, she gave me a very detailed summary, letter, and follow-up meeting to go over it. I would not hesitate to work with her again.”-Kyle Cooper, author of Annals of Arlion

“Britta left amazing and insightful comments throughout my manuscript. The video and cover letter walked me through the major issues and helped me develop an action plan to start making big improvements in my work. Being able to leverage her experience in our follow-up conversation was invaluable, thank you!”-Jonathan Munz, author of Imperial Colours

“Britta is an absolute pleasure to work with. I had taken my project as far as I could on my own, and I knew I needed a developmental edit to help shape and structure the story I want to tell. I knew I had found a match with Britta after interviewing a LOT of editors. Her communication is professional, her responses timely, and she has a great personality. The feedback she’s given me through an editorial letter, in-line comments, and online discussions has been invaluable in improving my manuscript and getting it ready for my next steps toward publication. She has the perfect mix between honesty and encouragement and is an excellent communicator. I look forward to continuing to work with Britta in the future, and I can’t recommend her enough. If you’re still reading this review, go ahead and send her a message already! -Donovan Bergin, author of In Her Image

“Having been through Britta’s highly detailed and astute comments on my manuscript I have no doubt that I have the guidance I need to vastly improve my work in progress. Her cover letter and video has allowed me to conceptualize the book into topics, making my revisions manageable. I look forward to working with her as I finish up the editing.”-Geoffrey Wells, author of Never Less
